ESPAI GRANADA

ESPAI GRANADA

This intervention in an attic of an industrial building in Poblenou (Barcelona) focused on achieving a large and fluid space to accommodate its new multi-space rental use. The continuous coating of natural lime used on walls, floors and ceilings together with the elimination of any internal dividing element, make this reform achieve its objective.

The large terrace, treated with the same cladding as inside, makes the space feel like one and the transition between inside and outside is subtle.

The sleeping area raised one step above the rest of the space, and with a curtain as a dividing element, is part of the whole set but maintaining its independence. A loft above the elevator shaft is proposed as a second room. The new projected windows are strategically placed to frame the main views of Barcelona.

ZAMORA LOFT

LOFT ZAMORA

This project is developed in an industrial building in Poblenou, Barcelona. To maintain its industrial character, the same natural lime coating was used on floors, walls and ceilings.

The challenge was to get lighting in all the rooms with a single façade. We propose an open and fluid space that allows this to be achieved, together with a set of heights that allows the bedroom area and the main bathroom to take advantage of the façade light while maintaining its independence.

Finally, an interior garden works as a protective filter against the industrial environment of the street, while proposing a green counterpoint to the prevailing monolithic treatment.

TAULAT 74

TAULAT 74

The building is located on a plot of three facades in Poble Nou. The main challenge of the project was the integration of the new building into the existing urban fabric.

The characteristics of the site (with its three facades and a single dividing wall) and the permitted clearances (two volumes of different heights) facilitated the development of the project.

The Taulat’s façade has a cleaner geometry with a grill made up of large balconies with sliding metal shutters that changes depending on the weather, the seasons or the user’s needs.

For the long façade, a more abstract relationship was chosen between the full and the empty, generating openings of different sizes and proportions that function as a touch of attention on the building.

On the third façade in the upper floors, there is a glazed gallery and a ceramic latticework that belongs to the communication core, which becomes a kind of lighthouse at dusk, letting light escape as if it was a lamp. The building has about 800 m² built and houses 7 apartments with surfaces ranging from 45 to 105 m².

HOUSE IN MATARÓ

HOUSE IN MATARÓ

Refurbishment

The proposal is based on the integral reform of the existing 172 m2 house and the surrounding garden, whose construction dates to 1975.

All non-bearing partitions are demolished respecting as far as possible the load-bearing walls and the three pillars of concrete, so that the original structure is minimally affected.

In the new distribution, the night area (3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) is located in the southwest bay, while the day area (kitchen, dining room and living room) is located in the northeast corridor, related to the garden and to an open porch on the lower part of the plot, where the pool is located.

The existing roof becomes a flat roof on which a 55m2 rise is proposed. This area houses the secondary program (guest room, bathroom and multipurpose room) and a walkable terrace to enjoy the sea views.

The swimming pool and the two small auxiliary buildings located at the northwest end of the plot are preserved to be used as a storage room and an outdoor barbecue-dining area. Given the slope of the land, the current access route to the house from the street is reconsidered.
